The body of a 52-year-old railway manager was found on the balcony of his Moscow apartment last week.


Pavel Pchelnikov who held the position of Director of Communications at Digital Logistics Ltd., one of the subsidiaries of Russian Railways was found with gunshot wounds last Wednesday. “Pavel Pchelnikov of the Russian Railway subsidiary company "Digital Logistics" has reportedly committed suicide in Moscow. His body was found on the balcony,” reported the Kyiv Post.

The death is deemed a suicide, but no details and the motive has not been disclosed by investigators. It makes him at least the tenth Russian executive to die under suspicious circumstances since Putin's invasion of Ukraine in late February.

As reported by the UK's Daily Mail, Pchelnikov had boasted about being 'the most experienced PR manager in Russian Railways company a few days ago was on vacation, from which he posted smiling photos with his family on social media. What would lead him to commit suicide remains a question.

The website Top Cargo 200, which tracks and publishes the deaths of senior Russian officers in the war in Ukraine, said Pechelnikov was killed by gunfire. According to the report, Russian officials accused him of failing to protect the infrastructure of Russia's rail network from hackers located in Ukraine, leading to delays in delivering critical supplies to Russian forces.
