The assessment took place during a U.S. Army Reserve training exercise and included soldier operation of the railcar for military rail movements.

Intramotev has demonstrated its TugVolt autonomous railcar during Operation Sentinel Justice at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Mississippi.

The TugVolt unit was used as a switcher for DODX railcars, moving them between rail spurs for loading and unloading without a locomotive. Soldiers operated the system under Intramotev supervision during the assessment.

The deployment involved the U.S. Army Reserve Command’s 75th Innovation Command, the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, the Deployment Support Command and its 757th Expeditionary Rail Center, and the Mississippi Army National Guard.

During the final hours of the event, military cargo arrived by rail at Camp Shelby. Soldiers then used TugVolt to reorder and spot railcars for unloading, extending the assessment to an operational logistics task outside the planned demonstration.

Intramotev is based in St. Louis and develops independently driven freight railcars for industrial and defence logistics applications. TugVolt is designed to move railcars without a locomotive in yards, terminals and other rail-served facilities.
