Alstom has signed a four-year agreement with Poland’s infrastructure manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe to maintain and overhaul electric point machines across the national network. The contract covers nearly 3,500 units, with an option for a further 800.

Alstom and PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe have concluded a strategic maintenance agreement running from 2026 to 2029, under which Alstom will carry out periodic inspections and overhauls of Onvia Switch electric point machines on the Polish rail network. The core scope includes almost 3,500 machines, with an optional extension for 800 more.

The work will cover full periodic maintenance and repairs in line with PKP PLK technical requirements and Alstom service standards, including the Onvia Switch 500, 700 and 2000 models. The partners said the nationwide framework is intended to bring greater consistency and continuity to switch maintenance, supporting safe and reliable operations.

Poland’s network has seen large-scale modernisation over the past decade, including the rollout of digital signalling and centralised traffic control. The agreement formalises long-term servicing of critical track components that directly affect route availability and capacity, particularly on high-traffic corridors.

For Alstom, the contract expands its signalling and infrastructure services footprint in Poland, where the company supplies interlockings, ERTMS systems and level crossing equipment alongside rolling stock. For PKP PLK, the deal creates a multi-year maintenance baseline for one of the most failure-sensitive elements of railway infrastructure.
