HHLA PLT Italy has started a dedicated rail shuttle between its terminal at the Port of Trieste and the Cervignano intermodal terminal.
The connection is operated by Plus Intermodal, acting as agent for duisport. It is intended to support Ro-Ro traffic at HHLA PLT Italy and connect maritime flows at Trieste with inland rail handling at Cervignano del Friuli.
The shuttle adds a rail link within Friuli Venezia Giulia’s logistics network. It also connects HHLA PLT Italy with the wider duisport network serving Central and Eastern European markets.
Interporto di Trieste was also involved in the project. The Cervignano connection is part of HHLA PLT Italy’s development of rail-based hinterland links from the North Adriatic.
